Close-to-the-water walkways flank a row of wharves dating from Boston's international maritime heyday during the early 19th century. The long granite structures have long since been converted to upscale apartments and condominiums with desirable harbor and skyline panoramas. The Harborwalk portion around Long Wharf (built in 1710) connects with a wide-open plaza at the water's edge. A newer portion around recycled Lewis Wharf (1840) and the Pilot House (1863) features flower beds and graceful landscaping.
